Must-Read Monday

Must-Read Monday Linky

Because I am a new blogger and this is my FIRST "Must-Read Monday" (so excited), I am going to get started this week by sharing my absolute top 3 favorite children's books.

Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse is such a precious book to use as a read-aloud. I used it at the beginning of the year to teach about respect and responsibility, but it can be used for many things. I adore it, and I love all other books by Kevin Henkes too!

I love this book because it is unlike any other book I have read before. The story is sweet, and my students loved it. It was chosen as the "Favorite Book of the Year" at the school that my mom teaches at, which is how I discovered it. The description of the book on Amazon is "After all, dragons just happen to be perfect friend material." Well, of course they are! LOVE!

Once there was a tree... and she loved a little boy.

I cannot even put into words how IN LOVE I am with this book. I have used it in my classroom five times already this year... FIVE! (Five times all together between teaching three different groups of students... don't judge me yet.) My kids know it's my all-time absolute favorite, and they have grown to love it too.

And the teacher was happy. Come to think of it, teachers are a lot like the Giving Tree, aren't we?

  1. I absolutely adore Kevin Henkes and the giving tree is a favorite of mine from childhood so I cannot wait to try Raising Dragons. Thank you for the recommendation! Hopefully the public library has it since I don't have here at school.
