Fourteen in '14

I can't believe that 2014 is already coming to a close. What a great year!

Of course I have to link up with some of my favorite bloggers for this linky party.

No explanation is necessary.

This year I discovered Old Navy's Pixie Pants. I may own 8 pairs now.

I loved Gone Girl! Read the book first!

I've watched a lot of great TV this year, new and old. My favorite NEW series is How to Get Away With Murder. It's gooooooood.

I love to eat and I love to explore and I love to try new restaurants. Because I live in an area that is newish to me, trying new restaurants is something that I do on the reg.

Disclaimer: This was a TOUGH choice. I don't want any Carolina restaurants to get their feelings hurt. That being said, my favorite restaurant that I tried this year is 82 Queen in Charleston. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic, and my company was fabulous.

I opened my TPT store in January and began blogging in February. I am so thankful for this incredible online teacher community that I have been welcomed into!

Thanks Patty!!!!

My friends call me the Queen of Pinterest and I'm supposed to pick ONE pin??

I chose this pin because I love this recipe. It's so easy to make and the leftovers freeze then microwave perfectly. This soup is great to take for lunches!!! I hate packing my lunch so the easier the better.

I couldn't pick just one!

1. Scholastic Warehouse Do's an Don'ts
2. Music to My Ears (using music in the classroom daily)
3. Get Excited About Writing

Yay! An easy one! I'm still so proud an honored that my coworkers voted my First Year Teacher of the Year last year.

I went to Nashville for the first time over the summer and snapped lots of good pictures.
This one is my favorite!

I have so many fabulous memories to choose from!

One of my favorite memories of the year, and one that is most applicable to this blog, is of when I turned in my keys after completing my first year of teaching. What a sense of accomplishment and pride I had! It was a great day!

With 2015 comes lots of major changes for me. My goal is to stay organized, stay positive, and take things in stride. I'm excited about things to come!

JOY.

JOY to the World! Merry Christmas!

Five for Friday: Carrie Bradshaw Style

It's another happy { Five for } FRIDAY!

I'm happy to be on my couch with Chinese take-out right now. AND I'm writing so I'm feeling a little like Carrie Bradshaw right now.

Over Thanksgiving break, I finally had the opportunity to read Wonder. I enjoyed it. I wish all elementary books were equally as meaningful. I think it's a little too much for my second graders, but I do hope my students get to read it in the future!

The reason I had plenty of time to actually read for pleasure is because I SPRAINED MY SHOULDER. Yeah, I didn't know it was possible either. I slipped on gravy in the cafeteria. I couldn't make that up if I tried. You're welcome for the laughs.

I don't do a classroom elf. Maybe some day I will cave, but I'm just not interested.

Instead, we are doing a mini Flat Stanley unit while reading Stanley's Christmas Adventure. Each student is taking Stanley home for one night only to have Stanley participate in a Christmas tradition and to write a letter to the class. The responses so far have completely blown me away and the kids are LOVING IT and much as I am!

We are studying matter in science. We've been doing lots of reading and math test prep so I decided we needed to have a little fun with science!! Basically we ate food leftover from our fall celebration and practiced identifying physical properties of matter.

It was fun. The m&ms were my fave.

You can grab this activity here.

Connor is my brother. My students are obsessed with my brother. That's probably because one time we FaceTimed him instead of doing our reading lesson. (We were reading a book about siblings. It was totally justified.)

Connor responded via text message. He says that college is tiring (I don't wanna hear it) and that he loves his football team.

Have a great weekend! I'll be watching the Tide roll!

Currently December

That's definitely not what December looks like where I live, but I can pretend.

I love linking up with Farley for Currently!

LISTENING { WATCHING }

I started Gilmore Girls on Netflix last week because I've never seen it before. I mean, I've seen a couple episodes here and there but that's it. I know, I know. I'm hooked!

LOVING

I went to a local burger joint with some girlfriends for dinner tonight and it was absolutely one of the best meals I have EVER had. I got a black bean burger that was garnished with avocado and some kind of delicious goodness sauce. I totally should have taken a picture of it.

THINKING

It's the most wonderful time of the year... time for MOY testing, that is, which is so NOT wonderful. I'm getting anxious and am trying to pack as much content in as I possibly can before we begin testing. Eeek!

WANTING

I want to do some more Christmas shopping, but I am way behind schedule this year! Between my shoulder sprain and leaving town for Thanksgiving, I haven't had time to process and get into the Christmas shopping mood. I tell ya, I'm ready now! I just need to find the time!

NEEDING

I'm also way behind on my lesson planning. I'm pretty much living on the edge right now by taking it day by day. Again with the shoulder sprain nonsense... The last two weeks I was in too much pain to stay after school and had to go all over the city for appointments. This whole not knowing what I am doing on Wednesday thing is risky business!

GIVING

I would love to give away a great new product to you all, but I don't have anything new to give! That being said, my store will be Buy 1, Get 1 FREE until Wednesday (Dec 3) at midnight EST.

If you purchase a product from my store before the end time, just email me at mycarolinaclassroom@gmail.com. Tell me your TPT name, what item you purchased, and what item you would like the receive for free. Make sure you mention that you found me through Currently and that you choose a product that is of equal or lesser value.

HAPPY DECEMBER!!!
