Five for Friday: MIA Edition

I've been MIA in the blogging and IG world. I know. I'm SORRY.
{ "Call the WAH-mbulance," as my students would say. }

Obviously I have an excuse for being Missing In blogging Action. I have been struggling to get rid of a seriously stubborn sinus infection. It's still a work in progress. Yuck!

I also have been busy working on an exciting new line for my TPT store... CLIP ART! That's right. I've been wanting to get into the clip art business for a while now and have finally taken the plunge.

I have to admit, no one has actually purchased any of my clip art yet, but my sampler set was featured in the TPT newsletter this past week as a free product!

Earlier this month we celebrated Read Across America.

I am so lucky to work at a fun school and be on the BEST TEAM EVER!!!!

JOE White and the 7 Dwarfs

Hugo's Reading Revolution

We began a new reading unit this week - one of my favorites.

I am IN LOVE with the new anchor chart that I made for it!

If you have any fun ideas for teaching fairytales, fables, and folktales, please let me know!

Sharing is caring! :)

On Wednesday, I hosted a poetry café in my classroom! We had a blast!
I blogged about it yesterday if you are interested in reading more.

Thanks for coming by!
Have a great week!

Poetry Café

Hi, all!

Long time, no blog.

This quarter has been a crazy one full of extra-curricular activities, illness, and big decisions.

I'm back today though because I COULD NOT WAIT to share with you about our classroom poetry café!

We've been planning this for weeks...

My students worked extremely hard all month creating poetry books using my templates and adding their own pages. They turned out to be great little poets!

I gathered some materials including a karaoke machine, a lamp, and some snacks. We practiced at least 5 times. I showed the students some video clips of kids reciting poetry and we practiced using vocal and facial expressions. I encouraged them to dress in all black and wear glasses or hats if they wanted to. I even tried to teach them how to snap instead of clap!

For the real thing, I had about 20 parents show up to be the audience.
It was SO MUCH FUN for both the kids and the parents.

Leave a comment if you have any questions! (I know I'm being lazy by keeping it short today.)

Please follow along on InstagramFacebookPinterest, and TPT for more ideas to make your life easier!

Currently March

February sure flew by, didn't it?!

LISTENING

I am currently watching the movie If I Stay. I just finished the book a few days ago. The book was good and the movie is following the book pretty closely! I cannot sit idly for the entire length of a movie so naturally I am multitasking... blogging and and working on a few new products.

LOVING

This week is Read Across America week and I am so excited! I know that this week is going to be chaotic as it is filled with assemblies and themed dress-up days, but the kids will love it. It's going to be a crazy fun week!

THINKING

Like any TPT seller, I am daydreaming about new clip art. To let you in on a little secret... I may be daydreaming about creating my own clip art line. It's happening, people.

WANTING

I could totally go for some more snow days. Don't get me wrong - I am so ready for warmer weather - but snow days are great for my mental health. The forecast says there is a chance of snow on Thursday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

NEEDING

I hate grocery shopping. Blah. I was really planning on going today, but the weather was nasty so I had to stay inside and be a bum! I guess I'm eating a PB&J for lunch tomorrow. Then I'll wish I had gone grocery shopping.

SPRING BREAK PLANS

In five short weeks I will be AT THE BEACH! I'll be visiting some family members along the Panhandle and will be spending lots of quality time with the sun and sand.

Have a great month!
